What UTP 6170 Co stick electrode is used for

UTP 6170 Co is a nickel base basic coated stick electrode of the E Ni 6117 (NiCr22Co12Mo) type to EN ISO 14172 and ENiCrCoMo-1 to AWS A5.11. It joins high temperature nickel base alloys as well as heat resistant austenitic steels and cast alloys, such as 2.4663 (NiCr23Co12Mo), 2.4851 (NiCr23Fe), 1.4876 (X10NiCrAlTi32-21) and 1.4859 (GX10NiCrSiNb32-20).

The deposit resists hot cracking and works at service temperatures up to 1100 degrees C, with scaling resistance to 1100 degrees C in oxidizing and carburizing atmospheres, for example in gas turbines and ethylene plants. The electrode welds in all positions except vertical-down, the arc is stable, the bead finely rippled and free of undercut, and the slag comes off easily. The preheating temperature is set to suit the base material, and post weld heat treatment can be applied independently of the weld metal.

  • Classification EN ISO 14172: E Ni 6117 (NiCr22Co12Mo)
  • AWS classification A5.11 / SFA-5.11: ENiCrCoMo-1 (mod.)
  • Coating: basic
  • Current: DC+
  • Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 250, 300 and 350 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (No. 04661)

A nickel cobalt alloy melts sluggishly, so do not expect the pool to spread over the sides by itself: open the preparation wider, hold a short arc and rock the electrode slightly at the edges. Keep the interpass temperature low and fill the craters. Dry the electrodes to the data sheet, and set the preheat for the parent metal, not for the deposit.
