What UTP 776 Kb stick electrode is used for

UTP 776 Kb is a basic coated nickel base electrode of the E Ni 6276 / ENiCrMo-4 type. It serves for joining materials of similar composition, such as 2.4819 (NiMo16Cr15W), and for surfacing low alloy steels. The manufacturer directs it to chemical plant working in highly corrosive media and to surfacing press tools and punches that work at high temperature.

The deposit stands up to contaminated mineral acids and to media containing chlorine and chlorides, including strong oxidizers such as ferric and cupric chloride. The material takes contact with wet chlorine gas, which few alloys manage. The arc works steadily, the slag comes off without trouble and welding is possible in all positions except vertical-down.

  • Classification EN ISO 14172: E Ni 6276 (NiCr15Mo15Fe6W4)
  • AWS classification A5.11 / SFA-5.11: E NiCrMo-4
  • Coating: basic
  • Current: DC+
  • Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 250, 300 and 350 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (nr 05257)

On claddings meant to resist chlorides the composition of the surface is what counts, so lay two layers and check the analysis if the client asks for it. Set the current low, keep the pool narrow, without weaving, and let the joint cool between passes. Preheat press tools before surfacing and cool them afterwards in vermiculite or in a furnace. Keep the groove clean, because oil residue spoils the corrosion resistance of the weld.
