WEARstick Co 25 suits the production and repair of hot working tools subject to extreme temperatures, thermal shock, compression, impact and abrasion. Its main fields of application are hot dies, hot pressing blades, hot trimming tools and roll mandrels, with between-layer build-ups on workpieces in nuclear reactor engineering as a special application. Previously sold as UTP 7010.
The classification is E Z Co1 to EN 14700 and E20-UM-250-CKTZ to DIN 8555. The hardness of the pure deposit is about 230 HB as welded and about 450 HB once work hardened. The deposit is highly corrosion and scaling resistant, heat resistant up to 900 degrees C and machinable with cutting tools. The maker states good weld pool control, a regular bead and easy slag removal.

Surface hot working tools after a preheat matched to the tool steel grade and cool them slowly, in lime or in a furnace. Grind fatigue cracks out down to sound material before you weld. Lay the buffer layer thinly at a low current, and start the next layer only once the slag is cleaned off.
