WEARstick MnCr13 is suitable for claddings on parts subject to the highest pressure and shock combined with abrasion. Surfacing can be done on ferritic steels as well as on austenitic hard Mn steels, and joints in hard Mn steels can be welded. The main fields are mines, quarries, the cement industry, railways and steel works, where working parts such as breaker jaws, hammer crushers, switches and crossings are regenerated. Previously sold as UTP BMC.
The classification is E 7-UM-250-KPR to DIN 8555 and E Fe9 to EN 14700. The structure of the deposit is fully austenitic, and the chromium addition raises the resistance to friction and corrosion. The hardness as welded is about 260 HB, rising to 48 to 53 HRC once work hardened. The maker states very strong work hardening and high toughness.

On high manganese steel keep the part cool: short beads, breaks for cooling and no preheating. When you join manganese steel components, lay straight beads without weaving, so that the heat affected zone takes no more heat than it must. The chromium in the deposit limits corrosion, but it does not replace a working layer: for extreme abrasion put a hard deposit from the Dur or XD family on top.
