WEARstick Tool 45 is, thanks to its high strength, toughness and heat resistance, ideally suited to build-ups on parts subject to friction, compression and impact at elevated temperatures, such as hot shear blades, gate shears, forging saddles, hammers, forging dies and aluminium die cast moulds. It is also used to good advantage for producing new cold and hot working tools on low-alloy base materials. Previously sold as UTP 73 G3.
The classification is E 3-UM-45-T to DIN 8555 and E Fe3 to EN 14700. The hardness of the pure deposit is 45 to 50 HRC and the heat resistance reaches 550 degrees C. The maker states a stable arc, even metal transfer, a good bead appearance and very easy slag removal.

On hot cutting knives rebuild the geometry of the edge first and grind the angle afterwards, not the other way round. Match the preheat to the tool steel of the base and hold it between runs, a break in the preheat ends in cracks. Lay straight beads and clean the slag off each one before the next. Cool the tool slowly under cover when the job is done.
