What WEARstick Tool 55 stick electrode is used for

WEARstick Tool 55 is, thanks to its high hardness, toughness and heat resistance, ideally suited to build-ups on parts subject to severe friction, compression and moderate impact at elevated temperatures, such as back centres, gripping pliers, gliding and guiding surfaces, hot and cold punching tools, valves, slides, hot shear blades, extrusion press pistons, forging tools, stripping columns, trimming tools, roll mandrels and punching tools for sheet metal. Previously sold as UTP 73 G2.

The classification is E 3-UM-55-ST to DIN 8555 and E Fe8 to EN 14700. The hardness of the pure deposit is 55 to 58 HRC and the heat resistance reaches 550 degrees C. The electrode is also used to produce new cold and hot working tools, in which case the cladding goes onto a base material of a correspondingly high tensile strength.

  • Classification EN 14700: E Fe8, DIN 8555: E 3-UM-55-ST
  • Coating: basic
  • Current: AC/DC+
  • Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
  • Lengths: 300, 350 and 400 mm
  • Hardness of deposit: 55-58 HRC
  • Former name: UTP 73 G2

This is the hardest of the basic coated Tool grades, so watch the preheat and cool slowly, otherwise the martensite will crack. Rebuild edges in two layers, the first mixes with the base and comes out softer. Machine by grinding. Dry the electrodes to the maker data sheet and do not leave an opened pack on a damp workstation.
