What WEARstick Tool 60 stick electrode is used for

WEARstick Tool 60 is used for the repair and production of cutting tools, above all for building up cutting edges and working surfaces. The deposit is highly resistant to friction, compression and impact, also at elevated temperatures up to 550 degrees C, and new tools can be produced by welding onto non-alloy and low-alloy base metals. The deposit is equivalent to a high speed steel with an increased molybdenum content. Previously sold as UTP 690.

The classification is EFe5-B to AWS A5.13, E Fe4 to EN 14700 and E 4-UM-60-ST to DIN 8555. The hardness of the pure deposit is about 62 HRC, falls to about 25 HRC after soft annealing at 800 to 840 degrees C, and reaches 64 to 66 HRC after hardening from 1180 to 1240 degrees C and tempering twice at 550 degrees C. The rutile coating gives a smooth, finely rippled bead and very easy slag removal.

  • Classification EN 14700: E Fe4, DIN 8555: E 4-UM-60-ST
  • AWS classification A5.13 / SFA-5.13: EFe5-B (mod.)
  • Coating: rutile
  • Current: AC/DC+
  • Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 350 and 450 mm
  • Hardness of deposit: 62 HRC
  • Former name: UTP 690

The deposit behaves like a high speed steel, so treat it as one: preheat, work without letting the tool cool and cool slowly afterwards. If the tool is going for heat treatment, use the hardening and tempering figures given, only then will you reach the top hardness. Build up cutting edges in two layers, the first one mixes with the base. Finish by grinding only.
