WEARstick Tool NiCrMo+ is particularly suited to wear resisting cladding on the working surfaces of hot working tools under thermal load, such as forging jaws, forging dies, forging saddles, hot piercing plugs, hot cutting tools, hot trimming tools, roll mandrels and hot moulding plugs. Previously sold as UTP 7000.
The classification is E Z Ni2 to EN 14700 and E23-UM-200-CKTZ to DIN 8555. The hardness of the pure deposit is about 220 HB, rising to about 450 HB once work hardened. The deposit is highly corrosion and scale resistant, it work hardens in service and it machines with cutting tools. The spray arc leaves a regular, finely rippled bead and the slag comes off very easily.

Soft as welded, hard in service: do not judge this deposit with a hardness tester as soon as it cools, forging is what proves it. Preheat the tool to suit the steel grade and cool it slowly, because a nickel matrix shrinks strongly. Machine it to size before the tool goes to work, later the deposit will already have hardened.
