WEARstick XD 65 suits highly abrasion resistant claddings on parts subject to extreme sliding mineral abrasion, also at elevated temperatures up to 500 degrees C. The maker names earth moving equipment, working parts in the cement and brick industry and radial breakers and revolving bar screens in sintering plants. Previously sold as UTP Ledurit 65.
The classification is E 10-UM-65-GRZ to DIN 8555 and E Fe16 to DIN EN 14700. The very high abrasion resistance comes from a large share of special carbides of molybdenum, vanadium, tungsten and niobium. The hardness of the pure deposit is about 65 HRC, the first layer on steel with 0.15 percent carbon about 58 HRC, and on high Mn steel about 55 HRC. The recovery reaches about 265 percent, metal transfer runs in a spray arc and the smooth bead comes out with no slag cover.

A bead without slag means you can lay the next one straight away, without cleaning, which cuts the time badly on large areas. Keep to two layers, a thicker deposit with that carbide share will spall. On a ductile or manganese base lay a buffer layer first. The deposit cannot be machined by cutting, so plan the size while you weld.
