A plasma torch is matched to the cutting current and to the type of cutter, because consumables are not interchangeable between manufacturers. Tell us the machine model and the current you work at and we will supply the torch together with matching electrodes and nozzles.
Ignition matters in daily work. Torches with a pilot arc strike without touching the material, so they cut grids, mesh and sections without the arc going out between bars. Contact start torches are cheaper and simpler, but they wear the nozzle faster and are not suitable for painted or corroded surfaces.
For machine work, body rigidity and repeatable setting matter. A machine torch mounts in a collet with a thread, has a separate shield gas connection and usually runs with a shield cap that holds a constant standoff from the plate. For a CNC table, also choose a cable long enough for the full travel of the gantry without tension.
Cables longer than 6 metres introduce a voltage drop and need a larger conductor cross section. If you need reach, an XXL version designed for that length is better than extending a standard torch with an adapter.
Consumables for plasma torches, including CUT BOX sets and replacements for Hypertherm, Thermal Dynamics, Lincoln and SAF, are in the Plasma cutter consumables category.
